House Veronika

 This house was built in the year 1830. Till the year 1945 there was weaving of ribbons and laces. In the years 1993 – 1996 was done a reconstruction of  the whole building. In the house there is a big kitchen with a dinning room for 16 people, a common room for 12 people, another common place for 6 people and 7 bedrooms (4+1, 4+1, 4, 4, 2, 2, 4). The central heating works on gas. The kitchen is fully
equipped including dishwasher. In the common room there is radio and TV satellite receiver. WiFi is free.

Behind the house there is a big garden (1000m2) where you can do barbecue and campfire. In summer it is very nice to sit down outside in the garden or on the terrace or  under the arcade of the house.

The house is situated on the square of  Černý Důl. It is than possible to get by car straight to the house. You can park your car on the square in front of the house. The parking is free.

Near the house are: groucery and drugstore shops, post, payphone, ski rent, Tourist Information Centre with internet in the township office building.

In the cottage Veronika there is usually no personnel. The caretaker is living near the house. If there is any problem in the house, please contact caretaker. 

Černý Důl

Today, the township Černý Důl is an important mountain resort which lies in the valley of the Čistá river on the eastern foot of the Krkonoše and 6.5 km east of Vrchlabí at the altitude of 684 metres above sea level.

The name was created perhaps due to its position in the middle of deep woods. The locality used to consist of several parts – the locality of Černý Důl, the locality of Nová Ves and the so called “third mountain segment“ which was the grouping of mountain chalets Bobí, Böhnisch´s, Hrnčířské, Liščí and Spiegel´s chalet, also called Na Zrcadle. The oldest segment was nová Ves, first recorded in 1489. The village was a line settlement spread along both banks of the Čistá river. The original settlement was founded around the chapel site, which was built in 1556. At the end of the 16th century mining of precious metals had its peak in the surroundings of Černý Důl. Quarring of limestone started in the 18th century and continues to this day.

Township Černý Důl is the owner of the swimming pool (autocamp Čistá). This swimming pool was constructed supplied by water from Krkonoše. In fact, it is a small reservoir set in a high place where it is possible to have a pleasant swim in the hot summer.

There are two grocery shops, five ski equipment hire shops and, gym open to public and information center.

There are mountain hotels, boarding houses and restaurants in Černý Důl and surroundings.

For example: Restaurant  Tibor (exellent cooking), Hotel Pošta (restaurant), Hotel Aurum (restaurant, gaming room, bar, sauna, swimming pool, massages and fitness center), Hotel Union (snack bar, disco), the Jáma public house (restaurant, ninepins), the U Švandů public house (traditional local pub), restaurant U lanovky (restaurant, public house).

In the SKIRESORT ČERNÁ HORA – PEC POS SNĚŽKOU area Černý Důl there are 2 ski-chair lift and 8 ski lifts, 6,5 km of downhill ski runs (65% of these are covered by snow artificially), SNOWboardpark, children’s  area KIDpark. . It si also possible to take mountain bikes to the mountain ridges by chair lift out of winter season. One can get to the ridges - where the lifts from Pec pod Sněžkou end - by walking through the valley of Čistá (1.5 hours) or take a taxi (snowmobile) from the square. 

SkiResort ČERNÁ HORA - PEC POD SNĚŽKOU

The SKIRESORT ČERNÁ HORA – PEC POD SNĚŽKOU consists of ski areas – Černý Důl, Jánské lázně, Svoboda nad Úpou, Velká Úpa, Pec pod Sněžkou.   The areas are equipped with up-to-date transport (1 cabin funicular, 6 chair lift, 38 skilifts of different capacities), artificial-snow machines, efficient lighting systems for night skiing. Downhill ski slopes and cross-country tracks are maintained. Skipasses are valid in all the areas. There is 36 km of ski slopes (77% are equipped with artifical snow), 100 km cross-country ski trails, 3,5 km sledge journey. Skibuses provide free transport between individual areas free of charge. Other services are are provided in the area as well: parking free of charge directly by the skilifts, skiing schools and courses and refreshments.  The areas are suitable especially for family skiing, ski slopes are prepared for both beginners and experienced skiers.
